Towards a strategic multi- country model for trade and employment in the Baltics

The theoretical and empirical analysis in this paper is based on an extension of the familiar two-country Mundell-Fleming model to more than two countries and to the inclusion of country-specific labour market characteristics and wage price spirals. A first econometric estimation for the three Baltic economies (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) with a linearised and dynamic three-country version of this extension was already provided by Plasmans (1997) for the sample period 1991 I – 1995 IV.
